Lauren lives in southern Chesterfield and plans to run a limited schedule with her modified at Southside Speedway, Langley Speedway and the Rolling Thunder Modified Tour.

She has also received help from Thomas Stinson, last year’s Modified Track Champion at Southside Speedway.  Members from his crew are helping her in the pits.  Edgerton has set high goals for her future in racing and hopes to advance as far as she can go.  She may one day be racing with her favorite NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon.  She is driving the #7 this year and her main sponsor ‘Consolidated Repair Services’ is displayed on the car.

Lauren Edgerton’s Ucar racing statistics can be found at her website ‘illusion-racing.com’.

First female racer in Rolling Thunder Modified History to race

Edgerton moves up to Modified series, dreams of racing in NASCAR series

Twenty-one-year-old Lauren Edgerton jumped up to the modified division this year.  After four years driving in the Ucar division, which is the four cylinder, front wheel drive cars, she is behind the wheel of an open wheeled modified which has a Chevy 400 horsepower engine and reaches much higher speeds.  Edgerton left a very impressive record in the Ucar division with 100 starts, 18 wins, 14 poles, 51 top five finishes, and 73 top tens at eight different tracks in Virginia and North Carolina.  Last year she won the Shenandoah Speedway Ucar Championship as well as Sportsmanship of the Year.  Edgerton not only has excelled in racing but also was able to earn a Degree in Mechanical Engineering at VCU over the past three years.  She now works a full time job as an engineer and works on her racecar almost daily.  Her parents have always been supportive of her racing ambitions that began at age 14.  Edgerton’s dad bought a go cart to make an attempt at racing but gave it up when he found her to be a better driver.

“Dad is always in the pits helping and offering support, and Mom is usually in the stands cheering me on,” she said.
